First, we use organic Calendula Officinalis (Calendula) Extract (which comes from the marigold plant). This first ingredient is vital to this formula because it acts as an anti-inflammatory, while also soothing and moisturizing inflamed, dry skin. It's complimented by the addition of organic Hypericum Perforatum (St. John's Wort) Extract and organic Anthemis Nobilis (Chamomile) Oil, which both soothe inflammation.

After adding ingredients that soothe irritated, inflamed skin, we focused on providing additional protection from the elements. That's why we added Tillia Cordata (Linden) Extract*, which contains tannins, volatile oil and mucilage, a gummy substance soothes and protects. We also include Ricinus Communis (Castor) Oil, an oil that penetrates deep into the skin tissue and nourishes it with fatty acids.

Lastly, we added organic Tocopherol (Vitamin E), one of our favorite formula ingredients. This isn’t just one compound—in fact, this name can be used to describe eight different forms of fat-soluble compounds (all of which naturally occur). Tocopherols typically help reduce damage caused to skin by UV rays and pollution. Because it counteracts damage to cell membranes, DNA, and skin proteins due to sunlight damage, it's a particularly good ingredient to add to a lip balm.
