When we’re swamped with responsibilities, it’s easy to forget how important it is to take care of you. But even though it might seem overwhelming to add yet another item to your “to-do” list, the good news is that a daily skin care routine is not only easy to implement – it only takes about 5 minutes in the morning to complete.
Read below to see how much we depend on the value of a skin care routine and how we recommend following it every day.
Washing is the first step to any cleansing process. Not only will warm water open up your pores, but using a cleanser will wipe away any leftover makeup, dirt and grime. For extra sensitive skin, we recommend the Real Purity Cleansing Gel, which soothes inflamed skin while leaving your skin fresh and clean.
Once you’ve wiped away the makeup of the day (or the grime of the night), rinse your face with cold water to close up your pores, and to remove any lingering cleanser or makeup that could cause later irritation.
Exfoliation is a critical step in your skin care routine. A good exfoliator will clear away dead skin cells (allowing new skin cells to surface), and will also minimize the appearance of dreaded spots and fine lines.
When exfoliating, gently massage it into your skin in a circular motion. There’s no need to rub too hard; indeed, if you find that you’re experiencing irritation after beginning your routine, limit exfoliation to 2-3 times per week. For a gentle exfoliator, try Real Purity’s Facial Scrub, which uses jojoba beads and grapefruit seed oil to clear your skin.
Toning your skin can be as easy as rinsing away your exfoliator with cold water, but you can also add a skin toner product to your routine. A product can be especially helpful if your skin is showing any signs of being irritated from the previous two steps.
We love the Real Purity Green Tea Toner, which helps control excessive oil production and leaves your skin with a natural glow.
The final step in your routine is to moisturize. If you’ve been playing in the sun all day, this can seem counterintuitive – however, your skin requires moisture no matter what the weather’s like outside.
Picking a moisturizer can be tricky, and unfortunately, there is no “one-size-fits-all” option. However, a good place to start is always by focusing on your problem areas – wrinkles, fine lines, acne, etc. – and then on the ingredients, which can be pleasant or irritating depending on your skin type.
When choosing from the Real Purity product line, we recommend incorporating our Cream Supreme, our Facial Extraordinaire or our Facial Food Cream.
