Routine 1: For Normal to Dry Skin

Goal: Nourish and hydrate without heaviness

Cost Range: Low ($)

  • Cleanser: Raw honey. Alternatively, you can use a gentle, non-toxic cream cleanser, like the ones Real Purity offers here for normal to oily skin or dehydrated skin.
  • Toner: Rose water, a DIY green tea toner (like the one outlined here) or Real Purity’s Green Tea Toner (for Normal to Oily Skin), offered here.
  • Moisturizer: Jojoba oil or shea butter

Steps

  1. Cleanse with raw honey – apply to damp skin, massage gently and rinse.
  2. Tone with rose water or an alternate green tea toner formula – spritz or apply with a cotton pad.
  3. Moisturize with 2-3 drops of jojoba oil on damp skin.

Routine 2: For Oily or Acne-Prone Skin

Goal: Balance oil and reduce breakouts

Cost Range: Low ($)

  • Cleanser: African black soap (unscented, fair-trade) or Real Purity’s Acne Soap.
  • Toner: Apple cider vinegar (diluted 1:3 with water) or Real Purity’s Green Tea Toner (for Normal to Oily Skin), offered here.

Steps

  1. Cleanse with African black soap or Real Purity’s Acne Soap – lather in hands, apply gently and rinse well.
  2. Tone with diluted apple cider vinegar – swipe over skin with a cotton pad.
  3. Moisturize with aloe vera gel – mix with 1 drop of tea tree oil if needed.

Tip: Patch test the ACV and tea tree oil if you're sensitive to certain oils and ingredients!

Routine 3: For Sensitive or Reactive Skin

Goal: Calm, hydrate, and protect the skin barrier

Cost Range: Low to Medium ($)

  • Cleanser: Oatmeal water or micellar water (e.g., from Simple or Bioderma), or Real Purity’s Cleansers featured here.
  • Toner: Cucumber hydrosol or chamomile tea; alternatively, you can choose one of Real Purity’s Toners here.
  • Moisturizer: Squalane oil (plant-based, often from olive or sugarcane). For more information on this ingredient, you can check it out on the EWG site here.

Steps

  1. Cleanse with oatmeal water (soak oats in warm water, strain and use the liquid).
  2. Tone with cooled chamomile tea or cucumber hydrosol.
  3. Moisturize with 2-3 drops of squalane oil.

What makes these routines clean in our eyes? Each one avoids the following: synthetic fragrances, parabens, sulfates, formaldehyde-releasing preservatives, petrochemicals and more!

Please note: these routines may not be suitable for those with very sensitive skin and/or particular skin allergies. Always test ingredients that are new for you in small areas and with caution. Please consult a medical doctor to evaluate health-related questions.
